Norman Lloyd's Professional Affiliations Norman Lloyd was a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales (F.R.A.S.), a Member of the
Royal Institute of Painters in Oil Colour (R.O.I.) a member and president of the London
Sketch Club (1941 - 1942). He regularly exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters from 1932, and in 1936 he became a full member of the Royal Institute, a highly exclusive association that is restricted to 65 members at any one time. The members are elected by existing members, first as associates for five years, with full membership possible only after that. Other artist members included Walter Sickert, Henri Fantin-Latour and Auguste Rodin. The Victoria & Albert Museum in London holds the records of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and has kindly given us the following information. The surviving ledger containing member information up to 1964 lists Norman Lloyd as a member from 1936, with entries under his name from December 1935 up to July 1964. The V & A Archive also holds an incomplete collection of exhibition catalogues by years, listing the paintings presented and their price: (The records at the V & A Archive do not include catalogues for 1941, 1942, 1945, 1946, 1952, 1955, 1957-1962, 1967-1969, 1971-1973, 1977) 1.
